The 2018 awards season commenced Sunday night with the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards, which was filled with memorable speeches and statements (in particular, the pointed fashion statement that many men and women adopted for the evening, donning all black in support of the #TimesUp movement). Of course, another statement of the night was one of love and support for one another—namely, between some of Hollywood’s most celebrated couples.
Oprah Winfrey, who was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award Sunday, gave a shout-out to her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, both on Instagram and in her monumental acceptance speech, calling him her “rock.”
“Stepping out with my HoneyGraham! thanks @versace_official,” she captioned a photo of the two of them all glammed up and ready to rock the red carpet prior to the show. “Great experience working with team #VERSACE 👏🏽👏🏽to you all.”
Justin Timberlake, meanwhile, showed support for his wife Jessica Biel by posting a selfie of the pair before the awards ceremony.
“Here we come!! And DAMN, my wife is hot! #TIMESUP #whywewearblack,” he captioned the photo. Biel’s current show, The Sinner, was nominated for Best TV Movie or Limited-Series. Timberlake later shared a fun video of the pair singing along to his new single, “Filthy” in the car en route to the awards.
Sam Rockwell, who took home the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, got his own share of compliments from his wife, Leslie Bibb, on social media.
“About last night…so proud of you, my beloved, you are the greatest in everything…i am so grateful i got to see that explosion last night…set it all on fire…you’re a force and i love you,” she captioned a series of photos of the pair at the show. “And you are kind and generous and the real fucking deal…and you put me in a fran and sammy sandwich…my adrenaline is still pumping from everything i absorbed last night…what an honor and thank you.”
Sterling K. Brown, who made history as the first black man ever to win Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, began his speech right off the bat thanking his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe. “I love you so much,” he said. “Thank you so much for supporting me through this whole thing.” And in an extra sweet note, he added, “To my kids, Andrew and Amaré, daddy will see you, I’ll take you to school tomorrow morning, I promise.”
Another particularly powerful speech came from Nicole Kidman, who won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie for her part in Big Little Lies. The veteran Hollywood star capped off her thank-you’s with one in particular for her husband of nearly 12 years: “And Keith Urban, when my cheek’s against yours, everything melts away, and that is love. It’s true. I love you so much.”
