Anything for the fam! In a rare move on Tuesday, October 10, on-again couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth walked their first red carpet together since 2013, in support of Chris Hemsworth’s new movie Thor: Ragnarok.
This is the first red carpet the couple has walked together following their January 2016 reconciliation. Both stars affectionately embraced each other outside of the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood for the world premiere of the elder Hemsworth brother’s newest superhero flick.
Liam, 27, looked handsome in a fitted and tailored black suit, while Cyrus, 24, went the more colorful route in a patterned silk dress. The “Malibu” singer claimed just last year that she was no longer walking red carpets–but evidently, she changed her mind given the circumstances. The two were there to support Chris, who walked the carpet with his wife, Elsa Pataky.
Cyrus recently spoke out about the three years she spent apart from Hemsworth in a detailed interview with Howard Stern. “When Liam—he’s my boyfriend now—and I broke up for a minute, he wanted to get away from me,” she said last week. “He wanted to go to Malibu, and bought this house… He didn’t know it was the house I recorded my first album in!”
The two now live together in that same home. “So now that we’re back together, my song ‘Malibu’ is about the house that I live in, in Malibu, which is where I recorded my first album,” the Younger Now artist said.
From his perspective, Liam also addressed his split from Cyrus in a 2016 interview with GQ Australia. “Of course it was hard, man,” he said. “But at the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time—we both needed that.”
