A New England fairytale come true! Actress Abby Elliott wed Billy Kennedy in Connecticut on Saturday, September 3.
According to People, the 29-year old Odd Mom Out star walked down the aisle in a lace and tulle Leanne Marshall gown. After exchanging vows in front of 200 guests during their elegant church ceremony, the newlyweds and their loved ones made their way to Elliott’s parents’ gothic-style home.
The couple’s families helped to pull-off the red, blue, and cream themed event. Elliott’s sister performed, and her uncle created the menus and table numbers using calligraphy. The bride’s engagement ring was passed down from Kennedy’s grandmother.
The Bravo star and her screenwriter groom opted for fresh organic floral arrangements for their big day. The multiple layers of their tiered wedding cake were covered in sugar flowers.
Kennedy – who is a writer for the popular Netflix drama House of Cards – proposed to Elliott last October after the duo had dated for a year and a half. He had their entire apartment decorated with flowers and candles to carry out the surprise proposal.
“It was really beautiful and he was traditional and got down on one knee,” Elliott told The Knot exclusively back in January. “It was just very simple, but lovely and wonderful.”
The talented pair had practical reasons for choosing to marry in September. “He has a couple of friends that are getting married in October. So all of October was already taken,” Elliott shared with The Knot during the planning process. “Some August was taken because, you know, this time in our lives everyone is getting married, and so were just like, ‘What about September?’ Okay, this date. We just kind of picked the date.”
In the thick of planning, Elliott told us that the couple’s wedding party would be a “big crew” of sixteen. Her sister, Bridey, would serve as maid-of-honor, and Kennedy’s sister, Maria, would stand up for the lovebirds as well.
Although the newlyweds lead busy lives, Elliott revealed in March that they would take time out for a honeymoon. “We are going to Africa on safari,” she told The Knot. “And then end on a beach somewhere in Mozambique.”
