The rumors are true! Adele confirmed her marriage to Simon Konecki during a concert in Brisbane, Australia, over the March 4 weekend. The singer, 28, revealed the news to her audience while talking about her smash hit, “Someone like you.”
“I was trying to remember how it was I felt at the beginning of the relationship that inspired that record, because as bad as a break up can be, as bitter and horrible and messy as it can be, that feeling when you first fall for someone is the best feeling on earth, and I am addicted to that feeling,” she admitted. “Obviously I can’t go through with those feelings because I’m married now. I’ve found my next person.”
The “Hello” singer and her husband, 42, first sparked marriage rumors when they were spotted wearing gold bands over the holidays. Adele added fuel to the fire last month when she referred to Konecki as her husband during her acceptance speech for Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
“Grammys, I appreciate it, the Academy, I love you,” she said through tears. “My manager, my husband and my son – you’re the only reason I do it.”
Konecki and Adele were first introduced by Ed Sheeran, and they dated for five years before secretly marrying. They share a 4-year-old son named Angelo. The secret to the couple’s success may be the fact that Konecki is his wife’s biggest fan. In a 2015 interview with Harper’s Bazzar, Adele gushed: “He’s so supportive, and that takes a very big man, because I’m very successful at what I do.”
