It’s been close to four months since Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender secretly married in Ibiza, and the Tomb Raider actress is finally opening up about the nuptials and her marriage to one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors.
In a new Vogue cover story, Vikander revealed her must-haves for her wedding day, starting with privacy. The actress wanted her wedding to be intimate, “a small, discreet gathering of friends and family,” the actress told the writer. “It’s not about being secretive,” she continued. “It’s just about choosing the few things that you keep private.”
Both Vikander and Fassbender choose privacy in their marriage as well, shying away from swanky, celeb-beloved properties when they travel. According to the piece, the couple likes to stay in Airbnbs in Brooklyn neighborhood Bushwick when they travel to New York City.
“I feel I’m more happy and content than I’ve ever been,” she said of her marriage. “The happy-and-content thing, that’s talking about my private life.”
The pair fell in love while depicting a married couple in 2016’s The Light Between Oceans. “I think he’s one of the absolute best actors I’ve worked with,” Vikander said of her husband. “Of course he’d done more films than me, but immediately when we started to work together he was so open to wanting me to chip in new ideas and thoughts. He would be like, ‘I’m stuck; what should I do?’ and I would say, ‘You’re asking me?’ That was such a sweet thing. . . . Life is about a lot more than work, but if it’s also your biggest passion, of course it’s something you enjoy talking about.”
