Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper just became the most recent celebrity wedding crashers thanks to their appearance at the Four Seasons Resort, The Biltmore Santa Barbara on Saturday, March 12. The Knot chatted with wedding planner Donna Romani to get all the juicy details on the lucky bride and groom’s unexpected pair of famous wedding crashers.
Cohen and Cooper definitely have different journalistic styles but that didn’t stop them from joining forces as wedding crashers! The former is besties with the Real Housewives and cracks us up every night on Bravo. The latter is a multiple Emmy award winning CNN reporter. Yet somehow both added the title of wedding crasher to their impressive resumes in Santa Barbara this past weekend!
According to bride Holly Hilburn and groom James Roblee’s wedding planner Romani, the two TV star wedding crashers were touring the country for their AC2: An Intimate Evening with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen lecture series when they bumped into the couple and their enormous bridal party and decided to have a little fun.
While Cohen and Cooper were in town calling the Four Seasons their home in preparation for a lecture at the Arlington Theatre that night, “Holly and James were with their photographers Michael + Anna Costa Photography doing romantic portraits around the property prior to the ceremony,” Romani told The Knot.
It was actually the Mother of the Groom, Julie Roblee, who first bumped into Cooper in the lobby of the resort and started to chat him up, asking if he would pose for a photo with her son and his bride, Romani said. After receiving a call from Julie with the news the wedding planner said she and the couple “immediately ran over and were thrilled to meet Anderson.”
The bride, who Romani shared has a background in political science, “was especially excited” to meet Cooper. Hilburn told him she’d watched him live in Fayetteville, Arkansas and Cooper stuck around for photos and conversation with the couple, “asking questions about them and about the wedding and wishing them the best,” Romani told The Knot.
For part two of the AC2 Hilburn and Roblee wedding crashers it was Cohen’s turn. About an hour later the entire (huge) wedding party comprised of 13 bridesmaids, 13 groomsmen, the bride and groom and a few others were having their photos taken in the back of the Four Seasons when the groom Roblee and his many groomsmen “decided to take advantage of the putting green between photos,” Romani told The Knot.
The fellas “were having a good time when Andy Cohen walks by on his way to the pool,” Romani explained, and once Cohen realized “the guys in tuxes were a massive wedding party” she said, “Andy jumped right into the foray.”

“The guys hung out with Andy and chatted for about 15 minutes before the cell phones starting coming out and the selfies starting happening. Andy was completely game and had a blast laughing with the groomsmen and posing for photos,” Romani said, creating quite a funny contrast between the wedding party’s formal tuxes and Cohen’s casual red swim trunks!
“Not to be outdone, Andy asked our photographer Michael Costa to shoot a selfie with Andy’s own phone,” Romani told The Knot. Cohen shared the photo to his Instagram account “within minutes after heading off and he even linked to the bride and groom’s hashtag #jollycaliwedding,” Romani added. “The wedding party had a blast with him and enjoyed the experience.”
“If you’ve got to spend a good chunk of time taking wedding photos with a party of this size, a few super cool celebrity crashes definitely perks it up!” Romani said, and what a perk that was for all involved!
