Don’t come for Ariana Grande (or those she loves)! The “No Tears Left to Cry” singer took to social media Sunday after a fan tweeted questioning her and Justin Bieber’s recent engagements, and she came out swinging.
In a since-deleted tweet captured by People, the Twitter exchange took place after a fan pointed out the impossibly coincidental timing of both Grande and Bieber’s back-to-back engagements, noting the common link: their manager, Scooter Braun.
“First Ariana get[s] engaged to Pete Davidson and now Justin Bieber to Hailey Baldwin the devil works hard but Scooter Braun works harder,” the fan tweeted Sunday. Grande, 25, confirmed her engagement to Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson in late June; Bieber, 24, reportedly proposed to girlfriend Hailey Baldwin in the Bahamas Sunday.
The fan’s comment didn’t sit well with Grande, who lashed back with a protective tweet about Braun, 37.
“You do realize we are human being[s] who love and have lives … right? And that Scooter is a wonderful human being too who cares first n foremost [about] our health and happiness?” she wrote. “Love it lit. S–t happens. I hope to god it happens to you too. U deserve it.”
Before things got too heated, another fan jumped in to explain to Grande that the first fan was likely just tweeting that as “a joke.” Grande quickly cooled her jets and tweeted in response: “okay okay be nice to that man. He’s wonderful. And very human. Always puts his artists’ health and happiness first.”
Grande and Davidson, 24, received some flack from fans after getting engaged less than a month after going public with their relationship (both broke up with their long-term partners earlier this past year).
Bieber and 21-year-old Baldwin, meanwhile, haven’t really had a chance to face any backlash just yet; the pair are currently soaking in the sun in the Bahamas, and haven’t publicly confirmed their engagement just yet, though both of Bieber’s parents have posted telling things to social media that hint at their excitement for their oldest son.
“Proud is an understatement! Excited for the next chapter!” Jeremy Bieber captioned a photo of his son silhouetted against a blazing bright sky. Added his mom, Patti Mallette: “Love love love love love love.”
