Arnold approves. Multi-hyphenate Arnold Schwarzenegger will soon be accepting a new role as father of the bride following his daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger’s recent engagement to Chris Pratt.
This week, Schwarzenegger Sr. sat down with Mario Lopez on Extra to share his thoughts about the rather surprising engagement—and any updates about the couple.
“That was really fantastic,” Arnold, 71, said Thursday. “She is so happy, they both are so happy. As I said to him, he is such a likable guy. I love Chris—he’s fantastic.”
It was known that Pratt had approached both of his girlfriend’s parents, Arnold and Maria Shriver, prior to proposing in their new home.
“He’s a wonderful guy,” Arnold said of the gesture. “They both look really great together, they’re both happy together, so I wish them both the best of luck.”
Shriver briefly touched on her daughter’s engagement this month while appearing on the Today show. “She’s super happy,” the I’ve Been Thinking author said of Katherine. “And gave me very strict instructions not to talk about it. She said, ‘It’s not your moment.’ I’m like, ‘I’m clear.’ I gave her that line!”
Pratt announced his engagement on January 14, sharing a picture of his new fiancee embracing him with her ring up front and center. They are reportedly planning for a wedding this summer. It will be the first marriage for the bride and the second for the Guardians of the Galaxy actor.
