Here comes the bro? Like many couples, Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham planned for a memorable first look session on their wedding day—but the couple, who married January 12 in Maui, included a fresh twist on tradition.
The groom had previously shared the backstory behind his alternative first look with Burnham. While the couple had discussed the first look, Luyendyk truly wanted to see his fiancee—who’s expecting their first child together—as she walked down the aisle at their ceremony.
Burnham heard him and decided to send Luyendyk’s best man out in a wedding dress—with a beer in hand. “@laureneburnham definitely got me,” the former race car driver wrote on Instagram. “I can’t even begin to tell you how shocked I was, currently planning on how to get her back. S/O to @drhallo, you’re a legend for playing along and I’m sorry this will be all over the Internet in a few minutes lol!”
The accompanying slideshow features Luyendyk’s reaction to the surprise. “Lauren totally got me!” Luyendyk told Us Weekly this week. “She’s been planning this for a long time, and it was probably the most hilarious part of the day.”
The groom’s actual reaction when he first saw Burnham on their wedding day was drastically different from the first look. “Really far away, with her dad, I just caught a glimpse of her,” Luyendyk told Us. “And as soon as I saw her I just started crying. I was trying to keep it together.
