Bachelor Colton Underwood has a ring at the ready. The season 23 lead, whose finale aired Tuesday, March 12, bucked Bachelor tradition by ending everything without the standard formulaic process of picking a ring, which is typically then followed by a breathtaking proposal.
Instead, the former football player jumped a fence, went after one of his outgoing contestants, and yes–it worked out in his favor. Underwood revealed Tuesday that he’s now happily dating one of his finalists, Cassie Randolph.
The only downside of all this is that he wasn’t able to secure a custom ring by jeweler to the stars (and longtime franchise staple) Neil Lane. Late night host Jimmy Kimmel, noting this, joked with the couple that they were “cheated a little bit” by departing the show without a dazzling diamond ring by Lane.
Kimmel, therefore, stepped in and ended up consulting Lane for a piece. The caveat, however, was that Underwood had to propose on his show Tuesday night in order to keep the ring.
The ring that Lane had sent over was an emerald cut diamond featuring a double halo of pave diamonds, all set on a double pave diamond band. Despite Kimmel’s attempts to force a proposal, Underwood ultimately said it would all happen in the couple’s timing, and again, the Bachelor lucked out: The ABC host gave Underwood the ring after all.
