Chadmageddon has arrived! Following the dramatic Monday, June 6, episode of The Bachelorette, JoJo Fletcher had to make the difficult decision of choosing between season 12 villain, Chad, and another one of her suitors, Alex, during a two-on-one date on Tuesday, June 7.
Here, The Knot recaps part two of this week’s madness and (hint!) there was no shortage of drama.
Pool Party Gone Wrong
Rather than the customary pre-rose ceremony cocktail party, JoJo chooses an all-day pool party instead. The guest of honor joins the men at their mansion for some fun and relaxation. Although she’s enjoying several one-on-one moments with her suitors, JoJo isn’t aware of the underlying tension when she’s not around — and it involves a man named Chad.
When Chad snags a quiet moment with JoJo, he convinces her that everything’s fine, but when Evan manages to divert the brunette beauty’s attention. An infuriated Chad can no longer hide his wrath, and he gets paranoid that his competitors are out to get him. In one particularly tense moment, Chad overhears Derek talking about him — and it doesn’t help when he sees the John Krasinski lookalike kissing JoJo.
After veteran Bachelor host Chris Harrison announces the end of the party, Chad asks Derek to chat alone, and confronts him about his conversation with JoJo. Derek admits that no one believes Chad is there for the right reasons. “This is about you getting in front of a camera,” Derek insists as Chad storms away.
With the rose ceremony just hours away, Bachelorette fans can’t help but think Mad Chad’s time at the mansion is about to run out.
A Rose Ceremony to Remember
JoJo stuns in a sequin, two-piece dress, all while her suitors anxiously await for their names to be called. Everyone is shocked when she hands the final rose to Chad, saying goodbye to three heartbroken (and nice) guys, Ali, Christian and Nick.
After making the difficult decision, JoJo The Bachelorette is anxious to move forward and tells her remaining men to pack their bags as they’re “leaving the mansion for good.” Of course, their destination is a surprise!
Into the Woods
JoJo’s men arrive at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania. The rustic location is perfect for the Bachelorette to snuggle up to her suitors. First she shares a hot tub in the middle of nowhere with Luke, who later opens up to JoJo about his time in the military.
Clearly feeling a connection to the West Point grad, JoJo ends the night by locking lips with Luke and giving him the date rose. Country music duo Dan + Shay — who joined The Knot at our NYC headquarters on Tuesday — round out the night with a performance of their new single, “From the Ground Up.”
As the men wait for Luke to return to the resort, they receive their weekly group date card. Derek, James T., Daniel, Chase, Wells, Vinny, James F., Grant, Jordan, Robby, and Evan are all asked to join the group date this week, leaving Chad and Alex. This means (dun dun dun!) that these two will face off during a two-on-one date!
Group Date: Football Feud
JoJo fathers the bachelors at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, where they’re stoked to find the team’s legends, Big Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward, and Brett Keisel, awaiting them.
The men are split into two teams, and the prize? More time with their girl. They play hard, things get bloody, and the blue team wins the coveted extra time.
Although Robby and JoJo share a sexy kiss during their alone time, Jordan ultimately wins the date rose – leaving his competitors disappointed.
All Hell Breaks Loose
The two-on-one date card arrives and, as expected, it’s reserved for Chad and Alex. Naturally, Chad is again at the center of drama when he challenges his critics to meet him outside for a brawl. He even goes after Grant, who responds to Chad’s outlandish threats by calling him “a coward.” Chad walks away while all the guys vocally pull for Alex.
The next morning, Chad overhears Jordan talking to the other suitors. Chad threatens to find Aaron Rodgers’s younger brother when he’s back home — away from the cameras. (Note to Chad: not a good idea to mess with Jordan, who appears to be one of JoJo’s consistent favorites so far.)
One-on-One Date: “Good v. Evil”
Alex and Chad arrive in the middle of the woods via helicopter to meet JoJo. After some tense moments between the trio, JoJo asks Alex to sit with her for a one-on-one conversation. It’s during this intimate moment that Alex reveals that Chad has been picking fights with the guys. JoJo is angry Chad has been fake with her while he’s been violent with his housemates — and she expresses it to his face.
During her one-on-one with Chad, JoJo says she appreciates his sweet side, but she’s aware of his violent side, too. Rather than threatening to beat people up, she encourages him to have conversations and “be an adult.” JoJo breaks down in tears after leaving Chad’s side. She knows he’s been through a lot after recently losing his mother.
Chad approaches Alex about his conversation with JoJo. He wants to hurt Alex physically, but he’s refraining since he’s “not allowed” to resort to violence. JoJo joins the enemies as they argue with her between them. She offers Alex the date rose after confronting a very surprised Mad Chad.
The suitors at the resort cheer when they learn that Chad is going home. Just when they think they’re safe, he shows up at their front door that evening. The cliffhangers continue…
