Well, this is awkward! JoJo Fletcher is no stranger to uncomfortable situations, but she didn’t realize that being The Bachelorette would be this tough. The hit ABC show had a loaded episode on Monday, June 6 episode, that had to be extended into a two-part series.

With this season’s villain, Chad, still in the mix, Bachelorette fans knew that viewers were in for a showdown. You can’t have muscles (and a mouth) like this guy without leaving a profound mark (literally) on the mansion. Here, The Knot breaks down Monday night’s episode.

The Announcement

In the opening scene, veteran Bachelor nation host Chris Harrison makes his way into the home, which is still trashed from the previous evening’s rose ceremony. He announces that this week will be different than last: There will be only one group date and two one-on-ones. Chad is certain that he’ll score one-on-one time with JoJo, as he’s “confident in [their] relationship.” He’s stunned and disappointed when he finds out the first solo date has been awarded to Chase.

One-on-One Date: Yoga Meltdown with Chase

Chase pulls up to meet JoJo in his limo, not knowing what to expect. She tells him they’ll be practicing hot yoga, which is something JoJo has always wanted to try. With candles everywhere, the studio’s heat is cranked up to 110 degrees. The instructor explains that the private yoga session will be an “intimate journey.” JoJo seems concerned since she’s only known Chase for a week, and this is their very first date.

When the instructor advises JoJo and Chase during a “tantrum exercise,” she encourages them to have an “anger-gasm.” JoJo is embarrassed, but the next yoga activity is something she and Chase enjoy.

JoJo Fletcher and Chase Bachelorette

Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher do couples yoga on a one-on-one date with her suitor Chase: “I feel like I want to die right now. I’m so embarrassed,” she says

JoJo “mounts” Chase – something she’s never done on a first date. But as they sit on the floor together, their attraction is apparent when the duo begins to kiss. They’re sweaty and exhilarated by the end of the sexy yoga session.

Chase and JoJo’s chemistry carries over into the evening. JoJo offers Chase a rose and tells him she has one more surprise. Country singer Charles Kelley performs for the couple, and JoJo is feeling the connection.

“This is the start of something really amazing,” JoJo shares with Bachelorette viewers. “I can feel it.”

Group Date: “Sex Talks” and Squabbles

When the date card arrives for the weekly group date, the suitors are on the edge of their seats. Jordan, Grant, Wells, James F., Christian, Daniel, Vinny, Nick, Evan, Alex, Chad, and Ali will be joining JoJo 12 to 1. Chad makes it clear that he doesn’t care to go on a date with the other suitors, annoying his competitors.

Jordan, however, receives the majority of Chad’s wrath when he makes a joke about his fellow suitor. “You’re a 27-year old failed football player,” Chad snipes at the former football pro, also the younger brother of NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers. “You’ve done nothing with your life other than throw a piece of leather.” The suitors are shocked as Chad invites his competition to join him outside.

The moment blows over, and the guys join JoJo for a surprise show at a local theater. Soon they learn they will be involved in a “Sex Talks Story-Telling Show,” putting them on the spot. However, Evan is “pumped,” as he works as an erectile dysfunction specialist, and views the evening as “another day at the office.”

One by one, the men go on-stage and share their sexual stories. JoJo is surprised by her suitors’ level of kinkiness, and she hasn’t seen anything yet! Evan takes the stage, warning the audience about the dangers of steroid use. He lists irritability and withdrawal among other symptoms, inferring his competitor Chad takes steroids.

As Evan makes his way back to his seat, Chad yanks on his shirt and rips it. The moment is tense, but Chad pushes by him to take his turn on-stage. After prompting JoJo to join him, he goes in for a kiss. JoJo turns her head, only allowing Chad to kiss her cheek. He throws the mic down — obviously feeling rejected.

Chad is angry backstage, but Daniel defends Evan, applauding his performance. Chad hits a door and his hand starts to bleed, but his concerns shift. “If I can’t lift weights, I’m gonna murder someone,” he shares with his fellow suitors.

Later that evening, Chad interrupts his competitors as they attempt to steal a few moments with JoJo. When it’s finally his turn, Evan ruins Chad’s moment by taking his time with JoJo. Evan tells the Bachelorette about Chad’s mean-streak side, and she takes some time to think. Later, JoJo asks Evan to join her outside, where she gives him her only rose.

Chad is disgusted by JoJo’s choice and finds it impossible to hide his feelings. JoJo calls him out for being disrespectful, leaving the other suitors relieved. As a safety precaution, security guards are called in to watch over the very moody Chad.

One-on-One Date: Going Old-School with James Taylor

JoJo and James Taylor are decked out in 50’s attire as they arrive at a swing dance studio. They learn the moves quickly, and later show-off what they learned in a group swing dance in the street.

After a fun-filled day, the couple parks above the city, looking like lovebirds on a date. James Taylor pulls out his guitar and sings an original tune, which makes JoJo emotional. “You’re the whole package,” she tells her date after he dubs himself an underdog.

The Cliffhanger

Bachelorette host Chris Harrison arrives at the suitors’ mansion to deliver some surprising news. In lieu of a cocktail party before the rose ceremony, JoJo has asked for a day-long pool party.

As Harrison exits the abode, Evan follows him outside to share his concerns about Chad. Chris talks to Chad, encouraging him to “settle it” with his competitors in a non-violent way. Chad can’t hide his anger as he heads back into the mansion. How will he deal with the drama?

Don’t miss part-two of The Bachelorette special airing Tuesday, June 7, on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
