Meet… Jerome! Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay handed out her final rose on the August 7 finale, and with that, her mystery fiancé’s identity was at last revealed. Here, The Knot recaps every memorable moment from the season 13 ending, including Rachel’s difficult decision between her final three suitors: Bryan Abasolo, Eric Bigger and Peter Kraus.

Rachel Watches Her Story Unfold
For the first time in Bachelorette history, Rachel watched the final episode unfold alongside host Chris Harrison and a live studio audience. Reliving the journey proved to be difficult for the franchise lead. “All of this feels surreal,” Rachel said before sending one suitor home. “It’s incredible that I’ve made it this far and that I’m at such a crossroads as to the decision I wanna make.”

And Then There Were Two
In the most suspenseful rose ceremony of the season, Rachel offered her first rose to Bryan. Relying on her heart to lead her, she gave her second rose to Peter before saying goodbye to Eric.

Despite not being chosen, Eric thanked Rachel for the experience. “I’ll always love you. That’s just the truth,” he said before leaving Spain.

Rachel Searches for Clarity on Final Dates
Before making her decision, Rachel went on a final date with each of her suitors, starting with a romantic hot air balloon ride with Bryan. Then, she explored a monastery with Peter, who continued to struggle with the idea of getting engaged. “Marriage doesn’t scare me… Having multiple marriages scares me,” he admitted. “Multiple proposals, to me, is one in the same.”

That evening, Peter revealed that he still wasn’t able to propose. “I don’t want to repeat what I’ve done in every single relationship,” Rachel replied. “[If] I agree to just date you and be committed to you, what guarantee do I have that it’s ever gonna leave that stage? My past has shown me that it won’t.” Not able to come to a compromise, they both broke down in tears and shared a last kiss before Rachel walked away.

Rachel and Peter’s Emotional Reunion
Peter and Rachel joined Harrison to answer some difficult questions. “I just don’t think this world… this process… this show is for you,” Rachel told Peter. “You need more time; you need to see things through. You’re searching for something else, and I don’t think it takes away from the person that you are.” Peter admitted to feeling attacked by Rachel but couldn’t articulate why.

Rachel and Bryan Are In Love… And Engaged!
Bryan was cautiously optimistic as he awaited Rachel’s decision. “When I first stepped out of that limo, I knew I was in for the ride of my life,” he told her. “When we first kissed, it was like a chemistry bomb, and I just knew that first night with 100% certainty that we definitely could be something special.”

He continued, “You’re everything I could ever want in a woman, a wife, the mother of my children. I’m completely head over heels… absolutely in love with you.”

Rachel explained that she had been trying to find cracks in the perfect foundation they had built. “I had to do some soul-searching deeper than ever before to find the courage to challenge myself, but this love has been so mature. It has tested me in ways that I couldn’t have imaged. Right here, in this moment with you, I see my forever… I see my future.”

Bryan then proposed. “I am the best version of myself when I’m with you,” he said before dropping to one knee and slipped a gorgeous diamond on Rachel’s finger.

Rachel and Bryan Make Their First Appearance As an Engaged Couple
After viewing the proposal from backstage, Bryan joined Rachel on stage. After a lingering kiss, the couple revealed that they aren’t yet sure whether they’ll live in L.A., Dallas or Miami, where he works as a chiropractor.

As for wedding plans, the lovebirds are in no rush but are considering a winter wedding. “Whatever she wants, she gets,” Bryan joked. “We don’t wanna rush anything,” Rachel added.

The pair are looking forward to grabbing coffee and going to the movies. Most of all, they’re thrilled to be openly engaged. “I’m not one to hide,” Rachel noted.

She explained that her feelings for Bryan were solidified the night he met her family. She recalled her shock after admitting  that Bryan had become her best friend. Since then, her feelings have only grown. She concluded: “He is truly my best friend.”
