Things are heating up! Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher is still pinching herself after last week’s season 12 premiere.

On the Tuesday, May 30, episode, the Texas beauty confessed that being the series’ lead was her “dream come true,” even after Bachelor Ben Higgins broke her heart — but we have a strong feeling that it won’t take her long to move past her ex.

The stakes are high for the eligible bachelors who are hoping to score a date. Bachelorette host Chris Harrison drops by the suitors’ mansion to announce there will be two group dates and only one chance at a one-on-one date with JoJo this week.

First up? Luke, Grant, Will, Evan, Daniel, Vinny, Ali, James F., Wells, and Robby are all chosen to spend some precious time with JoJo. After hearing a loud crash, the gents run outside to find a limo engulfed in flames. A firetruck pulls up with The Bachelorette on board rocking turnout gear over her white cami. JoJo puts out the flames with her hose, greets her suitors, who then hop on the firetruck and head for the fire academy.

In an attempt to see who can save JoJo in an emergency, the guys pull on their turnout gear and get to work. They’re put through a variety of physically demanding jobs as they’re judged on their performance. Wells feels like the odd man out as he struggles to keep up, but he scores some unexpected time with JoJo when he’s forced to rest.

Grant, a real-life firefighter, and Luke are both chosen for their ability and endurance. Wells is chosen for his perseverance, but again he’s put to the test. He races Grant and Luke through an obstacle course to save JoJo who is hanging out on top of a building. Grant gets to her first, and JoJo’s impressed. The guys are good sports as Grant carries JoJo to safety and she calls out, “He saved me!”

As his prize for winning the challenge, Grant scores one-on-one time with JoJo, who considers him “a hero” and rewards him with a kiss. However, it’s her kiss with Luke that sends sparks flying; Their connection is immediately apparent. Despite their steamy first kiss, Luke is disappointed when JoJo gives her one and only rose to Wells.

Derek beams when he learns he gets the only one-on-one date with The Bachelorette. When she arrives at the mansion, she tells him their date is a bit of a mystery. Decisions they make throughout their first date will lead to their final destination. They both choose “sky” over “sea,” leading them on a romantic flight to San Fransisco. When given the choice between visiting Lombard Street or the Golden Gate Bridge, they opt to visit the bridge. They have a picnic together (with bubbly, of course) as they get to know one another. Derek feels “fireworks” as they share a kiss, but is JoJo as entranced with him?

After getting dressed up, Derek leads JoJo to a romantic outdoor dinner for two. He admits he has trouble opening up since his last relationship ended badly. JoJo relates to his story, bringing the twosome together, and they share a lingering kiss. She offers Derek a rose, stating it’s the easiest decision she’s made all day.

After a romantic evening, The Bachelorette is ready to have some fun with her admirers. Jordan, Christian, Nick, James T., Alex, and Chad are pleasantly surprised when they arrive at ESPN to find JoJo playing the (very convincing) part of sports broadcaster. Holding her own alongside Sports Nation‘s Marcellus Wiley and Max Kellerman, JoJo reports the news. The studio quickly transforms into Bachelor Nation, where her admirers are put to the test.

During a series of games, Chad irks his competitors by calling them fake and dubbing JoJo as “naggy.” It’s no question when Marcellus and Max ask the gent who JoJo shouldn’t marry.

All of the contestants choose Chad, but when it’s his turn, Chad calls out his fellow competitors. He’s disgusted by the men’s “fake” proposals and terms of endearment for JoJo. Despite his negative attitude, Chad scores second place in a poll, only beat out by James, which leaves the other men clearly annoyed. When they confront Chad later, he stands his ground, saying he’s the only contestant keeping it real.

Later that evening, JoJo meets with her suitors after their date, and she’s thoroughly impressed by James Taylor. “A smile is the only thing you can see on the outside that comes from the inside,” he tells her, as he beams during their one-on-one time. James tells Bachelorette viewers that JoJo is out of his league, but he makes a lasting impression. He reads her a sweet letter and even manages to move JoJo to tears.

One by one, Chad puts all of the men down, stating they are “too short, too weird, or too childish.” JoJo is certain he’s “overcompensating for something,” but he opens up during their brief time together. He tells her his mom passed away six months ago, and she was his best friend. After making a wish together by the wishing well, Chad and JoJo kiss. Chad shares with viewers that he has a “giddy feeling.” He’s falling for JoJo after all. His happiness is short-lived, as she offers James Taylor the date rose.

It’s time for the rose ceremony, and JoJo’s suitors are expecting the night to be a “roller coaster.” When she arrives at the mansion, Chad is waiting outside with a glass of wine for her. He goes in for a kiss before opening the door for JoJo to enter the mansion. The moment is awkward, leaving Bachelorette viewers doubtful that Chad will be one of the gentlemen receiving a rose tonight.

After the men recover from the shock of JoJo making her entrance with Chad, several of them approach him. He’s smug and unwilling to share what he discussed with JoJo. He’s annoyed by his competitors’ concern.

JoJo is unaware of what’s going on inside, as Chase whisks her away. Outside, they enter a winter wonderland complete with fake snow and warm mittens. Because he didn’t score a date, Chase created a “mini date” JoJo won’t soon forget. She sits in his lap, thanking him for the thoughtful gesture.

Alex and Chad have a confrontation over Chad stealing his competitors’ time with JoJo. Chad threatens to knock Alex’s teeth out, but the moment is lost when Chris Harrison announces it’s time to come inside.

The rose ceremony commences, and one by one The Bachelorette offers her admirers a coveted rose. After her final rose goes to Chad, three of the men are forced to say goodbye. James S., Brandon, and Will bid farewell to their dream girl, JoJo. Chad dubs the remaining guys a “parade of losers,” stating he is looking forward to lots of protein shakes and workouts in his pursuit to “get the girl.”

Sneak Peek: On next week’s two-night Bachelorette special, Chad is the center of attention. He’s picking fights with his competitors, and some of the men get bloody. Will JoJo catch them in the act?
