Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay Is Engaged—But You “Won’t Be Able to Tell” Her Fiancé’s Identity

It’s a cloud of mystery. Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay confirmed to The Knot and other outlets last week that she is engaged, a fact she reiterated once again on Monday, May 22, ahead of the season 13 premiere of ABC’s smash reality franchise.

The Dallas-based attorney, 32, stopped by Good Morning America—sans her engagement ring—in preparation of the show’s two-hour return on a rainy morning. “I’m engaged, thank you,” Lindsay told the ecstatic crowd. “I’m so excited, I’m so happy and I just couldn’t keep it in, so they were like, ‘Okay, you can announce it. You can say you’re engaged.’”

However, it’s possible that the winner is not the recipient of her first impression rose. Thirty-one men will appear at the Bachelor Mansion on Monday night’s episode for their chance to stand out to Lindsay. “You have to follow along on the journey. It’s really exciting,” she teased of her fiancé. “You won’t be able to tell.”

Since the show wrapped filming, Lindsay has been coming to terms with her new reality—with her future husband.

“Every morning, I wake up and pinch myself and I keep asking myself, ‘Is this really happening?’” the new lead said in a call with reporters last week. “It’s crazy. I mean, just to have my coworkers have faith in me, sign me up, believe that I can find love during next season… At times, I feel like I don’t even deserve this because it’s like I’m getting everything that I want. And I am getting my happy ending. It’s just such a surreal experience: That’s the best way for me to describe it. And I am totally humbled by it and I feel very blessed.”

There will, however, be some challenges in the months ahead, mainly keeping her fiancé’s identity a secret. “It is hard,” she acknowledged in the same call. “I’m used to a long-distance relationship where we can’t see each other all the time, and we can’t be public. I mean, I’m used to that, but it’s hard when you’re so excited about something (that) you can’t share it with everyone. It’s really hard. But we just make sure that we communicate with each other all the time. And… I mean, that’s really all that you can do.”

The Bachelorette season 13 premieres on Monday, May 22, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
