Will JoJo Fletcher fall in love… again? The Season 12 Bachelorette continued her journey on the Monday, July 11, episode, enjoying the gorgeous Argentinian escape of Buenos Aires and Mendoza with her six remaining suitors.
After a brief hiatus, Bachelorette viewers caught the latest episode — and the anxiety is real! JoJo has been getting cozier than ever with the men who are vying for her heart. Here, The Knot recaps the most memorable moments from the latest episode.
The last episode ended with JoJo keeping her six remaining suitors for another week. In the opening scene of Monday’s episode, the guys — Robby, Jordan, Luke, Chase, James, and Alex — are certainly feeling the pressure. Host Chris Harrison explains that they are still in the running because JoJo wants them there, but she can let them go whenever she chooses.
This week, there will be four dates total. Three suitors will be chosen for one-on-one dates, and there will be a big group date. The good news? There are no more one-on-one date roses. However, there will still be a group date rose. Eventually, The Bachelorette narrows it down to the four men she will be joining for hometown dates in the next episode.
One-on-One Date: The Black Sheep Gets His Chance
At long last, Alex is chosen for his very first one-on-one date. The date card gives him a boost of confidence, as he’s been feeling like the “black sheep” of the suitors.
Alex joins JoJo for a ride in the countryside while the other guys board a bus. They rap about Alex – poking fun at his height as they party on the roads of Argentina.
JoJo is admittedly comfortable spending time alone with Alex, but it’s proving difficult to find a romantic connection with her date.
Alex joins JoJo at an authentic Argentinian estancia where they’ll be gauchos for the day. After putting on their gear, they hold hands as they ride horses together. Then, they witness a beautiful ritual between a horse and his gaucho – making for the romantic moment they have both been waiting for.
As Alex’s competitors settle into their living quarters, Jordan learns he will be going on the next one-on-one date with JoJo. In the meantime, Alex tells The Bachelorette that he’s falling in love with her. JoJo explains to Alex that in her heart, she doesn’t think he’s the man for her. Alex’s heart is broken, but JoJo wants to be fair to him. He leaves Argentina upset, unable to look JoJo in the eye.
One-on-One Date: Flying High With Jordan
As they fly to Mendoza, JoJo is clearly smitten with Jordan. They spend time at a vineyard and crush grapes together with their feet. JoJo can see a life filled with “excitement and passion” with Jordan. They’re reluctant to drink the wine from the grapes they crushed, but they both enjoy it. Later, they kiss and talk in a hot tub in the vineyard.
Jordan opens up to JoJo over a romantic dinner for two. He admits that he doesn’t have a relationship with his middle brother, NFL player, Aaron Rodgers.
After sharing his family issues, he tells The Bachelorette he’s falling in love with her. JoJo is “giddy” and shares in the confessional that she’s “feeling loved” by Jordan.
Group Date: Rainy Day Fun
JoJo loves to try out local cuisine when she visits a new place. But on a rainy day group date with James, Robby, and Chase, she has a craving for greasy junk food.
After pizza and fries and a few random games, JoJo and her suitors play truth or dare. She dares Robby to strip down to his underwear and run through the hotel halls. The men are all uncomfortable, but Robby doesn’t regret the streak, as it’s “all in the pursuit of love.”
Later, JoJo and her guys lay in bed and watch the Brazilian version of The Bachelor. James picks on Robby, calling him out for staring at other women.
JoJo talks with Robby alone about his past relationship. He had a ‘bad breakup” after dating his ex-girlfriend of over three years. JoJo is concerned that the relationship ended only four and a half months ago. Robby attempts to ease her mind, but she still appears worried.
When JoJo talks to Chase, he tells her he wants to spend his life with her. The Bachelorette is impressed that he’s opening up, which has been a problem in the past.
JoJo asks James how he’s feeling about next week’s hometown dates, but he cuts her off – asking if she is truly into him. She tells him that he has all of the qualities she’s looking for in a husband.
After her group date suitors argue over who is the “front-runner” for JoJo’s top pick, she joins them to hand out the one and only group rose, which she winds up giving to Robby. To add insult to injury for James and Chase, JoJo asks them to go back to the men’s quarters while she spends some more alone time with Robby.
One-on-One Date: In Luke’s Element
JoJo and Luke enjoy time horseback riding and shooting guns together. The countryside reminds him of his home state of Texas and his family’s ranch.
When they have an intimate talk, Luke shares that he’s open-minded about where the future will take him. JoJo feels good about her relationship with Luke. He may just be a front-runner.
A Surprise Rose Ceremony
Luke’s fellow suitors are shocked when he returns early from his date with JoJo and shares that the rose ceremony will be that evening. The five gentlemen ride a horse drawn carriage together to meet The Bachelorette.
Luke is the first of JoJo’s suitors to receive a rose. As the remaining men look nervous, she asks Jordan to accept the next rose. James and Chase wait patiently as JoJo makes her decision. After a long pause, she chooses Chase to accept the final rose of the evening.
James and JoJo both cry as she walks him out. James explains that he’s used to hearing that he deserves to find true love. He thanks JoJo for being “so sweet to him.” JoJo feels terrible for hurting him as she walks him to the limo.
Sneak Peek: Next week, JoJo meets Robby, Luke, Chase, and Jordan’s families. Will hometown visits bring her clarity – or leave her even more confused?
