It seems like they’re still meant to be. Nearly 25 years ago, a talented group of five singers banded together in Orlando, Florida, and dubbed themselves the Backstreet Boys. The group went on to enjoy international acclaim and success, releasing chart-topping ballads like “As Long As You Love Me,” “I Want It That Way,” and “Incomplete” for their throngs of adoring fans to play continuously on repeat. And while they sang about love, the actual act of finding love in their personal lives took time.
Now, back and ready to once again sweep devoted fans off their feet, the Backstreet Boys look back on the tender moments from their wedding days. Read what Kevin, A.J., Howie, and Nick tell The Knot in a new, exclusive below.
Kevin Richardson
“Our wedding day was the easiest, most low-stress day of my life,” says Richardson, who married his wife, Kristin, in June 2000. How exactly was everything so seamless in retrospect? “Because I had never been more certain about anything in my life,” he remarks.

Howie Dorough
After proposing on New Year’s Eve with a custom ring, Dorough married his longtime love, Leigh Boniello, in December 2007, at the St. James Catholic Cathedra in Orlando, Florida. Following the traditional ceremony, the bride and groom celebrated wth a lavish reception at La Viance—and the entrance for the newlyweds was equally fitting.

“My favorite part of the wedding was taking the helicopter with my new wife to the reception grounds,” he recalls to The Knot. “And landing to surprise our guests with our magical entrance that nobody expected. In fact, most people thought we were ‘paparazzi at first sight,’” he adds with a laugh.
A.J. McLean
The singer married longtime girlfriend Rochelle Karadis in December 2011, in a goth-themed Los Angeles wedding. McLean says it was the thought alone that made his wedding day so special. “I met my match, my equal, my best friend for life,” he says. “The only woman alive to tame the savage beast.”
McLean adds, “The best part of our wedding day? It was that our wedding day was the most kickass wedding, in my opinion, in history!”

Nick Carter
Carter, the last to get married among his bandmates, exchanged vows with “the one” in Santa Barbara, California, in April 2014.
“My wife, Lauren, surprised me with the band playing The Legend of Zelda theme [song] during our walk down the aisle,” he tells The Knot. “That’s how I knew she was the one for me. She geeks out over the same types of things I do. We are a perfect match.”
