The New York City-based socialite, who reportedly comes from an aristocratic German background, looked beautiful in a long-sleeve ivory gown comprised of tulle and beading. Watters Founder and CEO Vatana Watters tells The Knot how her brand ended up dressing von Walderdorff in a custom version of its “Mihr” tulle and organza ballgown.
“After seeing and trying on countless dresses, nothing seemed right until the bride, Tessa and her stylist, Nilüfer Satorius set their eyes on Watters’ Mihr gown,” Watters says. “Tessa loved the voluminous skirt and delicate beading covering the bodice.”
The piece, available for purchase at nearly $4,000, is sleeveless, fitted at the waist, and features an illusion V-neck and a deep V-back. The ballgown includes a voluminous A-line skirt that dips down to a slight train. “The skirt was designed with 25 yards of lovely washed silk organza and 50 yards of tulle,” the bridal designer adds of the original piece. “This gave Tessa the drama she wanted without all of the weight for her island wedding.”
While the original dress was the perfect base for her wedding day look, the bride had a big request for customization. “Adding beaded sleeves gave a regal touch to the gown and was a shared request from the bride and her mother,” Watters adds. “They wanted the beading to resemble pixie dust sprinkled along the cuff, and the end result truly was magical.”
The new Mrs. Hilton paired her piece with a light ivory veil by Toni Federici. She also wore a Watters piece to her rehearsal dinner—an ivory crepe pantsuit featuring a lace corset bustier.
The couple wed before their beloved family members and friends in Saint Barthélemy. Guests included the groom’s immediate family including Nicky Rothschild and Paris Hilton and their significant others, as well as Real Housewife of Beverly Hills Kim Richards, who is the sister of family matriarch Kathy Hilton. Other sister Kyle Richards was unable to make the nuptials due to ongoing press events for her new show.
