Love at first sketch? Batman and Catwoman’s decades-long on-again, off-again relationship seems to be on again—for good! In Batman No. 24, which is set to release Wednesday, June 7, the two superheroes will get serious about their relationship status.
According to USA Today, an unmasked Dark Knight will drop to one knee with a diamond ring in hand while the pair are on a rooftop in Gotham. Batman will ask for Catwoman’s hand in marriage with two simple words: “Marry me.”

Batman writer Tom King calls the moment “unprecedented” after 75 years of buildup, telling the paper, “I want people to go home and be like, ‘Should she marry him? Should she say yes?’ There’s a whole conversation that could come out of this.”
King also reveals that Batman has had the diamond at the ready for decades, and his proposal will come with a dramatic profession of love.
The pair last rendezvoused in Gotham at the end of Catwoman No. 1—a controversial development in both superheroes’ storylines. King has since worked to make sure that both characters have stayed in each others’ orbits, culminating, of course, in the romantic rooftop proposal.
Time will tell if she says yes!
