Celebrity wedding crashers ranging from Justin Trudeau to Kristen Stewart put an elite group of couples’ wedding days in the headlines this year. Here are a few of our favorites.
1. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Crashes a Wedding—In a Kayak
In early August, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was just minding his own business while paddling in the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve with his wife, Sophie, when he spotted a bride and groom enjoying a boat ride nearby. As any kindly politician might do, Trudeau paddled over to the newlyweds and offered his congratulations, posing for a selfie with the ecstatic couple.
2. The Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart Was a Groomsman in a Wedding, So He Surprised the Couple With “Paris” at the Reception
Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart had the ultimate wedding gift for a college buddy who got married this past August: a surprise performance by the Grammy-winning band. Taggart and bandmate Alex Pall, who also attended the nuptials, worked with the wedding band to pull off the surprise, which included a performance of their smash hit “Paris.”
3. Kristen Stewart Crashed the Wedding of Two Brides
Twilight actress Kristen Stewart was enjoying a relaxing drink with girlfriend Stella Maxwell in Winnipeg, Canada, this July, when they caught wind of a wedding reception for two brides taking place in the same restaurant. They asked to say hello and congratulate the newlyweds.
“The owner came up to me, and he said, ‘Hey, is it okay if Kristen Stewart and her girlfriend, Stella, come and have a few drinks with you guys?’” Kayleigh Jennings told CBS News. “And I was like, ‘Yeah, totally! Yeah, no problem. Um, who is that?’”
4. Luke Bryan Crashes a Wedding—While Filming ‘American Idol’: Watch the Video
Luke Bryan: country singer, wedding crasher. The country music star was shooting American Idol auditions in Savannah, Georgia, when he was told that a wedding reception was under way not too far from where they were taping. Naturally, he went over to investigate, and happened upon all the wedding guests on the dance floor, grooving to one of his hits. And so Bryan kicked the party up a notch and performed one of his songs for the surprised newlyweds, live.
5. Bradley Cooper Caught the Bouquet at a Family Friend’s Wedding This Weekend
Living up to his movie persona! Wedding Crashers star Bradley Cooper made sure to make his family friend’s wedding extra special last October by not only crashing the couple on-campus during their wedding photo shoot at his alma mater, Georgetown University, but also catching the bouquet at the wedding reception itself.

6. Taylor Swift Crashes the Wedding of a Deserving Fan: Watch Her Perform!
It’s no secret that Taylor Swift will go to great lengths to connect with her fans, and in June 2016 she did just that when she surprised a fan, Max Singer, and his bride, Kenya Smith, at his wedding in New Jersey, ready to perform an acoustic version of her hit, “Blank Space.” The singer even later posted a selfie of the three of them to her Instagram, captioning the shot, “Third wheel.”

7. Tom Hanks Crashes Wedding Photo Shoot in Central Park
Tom Hanks crashed a wedding photo shoot in Central Park in September 2016, and the lucky couple didn’t seem to mind his sweaty handshakes and congratulations. The good-natured actor even jokingly offered to officiate the pair’s wedding, telling them that he was an ordained minister. An excited Hanks later shared a selfie of himself with the couple to his Instagram page, making him the ultimate crasher.
