Squeal! Hollywood A-listers Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney, who starred together in beloved 1997 movie My Best Friend’s Wedding, reunited this past weekend at Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards in Culver City, California.
Roberts, 48, was honored at the event with the Woman of the Decade award, which was presented by Mulroney, 52. In his remarks, the actor lavished America’s Sweetheart with praise before the star-studded audience, including Robert De Niro, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Matt Bomer.
“I had the pleasure of playing Julia’s best friend in My Best Friend’s Wedding,” Mulroney shared. “And life imitates art and we became best friends.” The beaming stars then exchanged a sweet hug on stage, and Mulroney later echoed his initial sentiments about Roberts in two separate interviews.
“I’ve had a great friendship with her and would push these guys out of the way to say something nice about her,” he told People. Mulroney added to Entertainment Tonight: “I’d walk a mile on broken glass for her, so this was a lot easier to come in to Culver City.”
He noted to ET that his decades-old friendship with Roberts is rare in Hollywood. “It doesn’t always happen with every person that you love and work with — you kind of go your separate ways,” he remarked. “But we, against all odds, managed to maintain a great close friendship. So, I’m happy to be here tonight.”
Both Roberts and Mulroney have reunited frequently over the years. They made news in January 2014, when they both attended the 19th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards in Santa Monica, California.
