The Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons says he’s still recovering after his wedding to Todd Spiewak this weekend. The couple, who married in a lavish ceremony on Saturday, May 13, at the Rainbow Room in New York City, had such a good time celebrating that one groom got sick.
“It was fantastic,” Parsons told Extra on Wednesday. “Much more fun than I thought it would be.”
Parsons and Spiewak hired friend and party planner Melissa McNeeley to help pull off the night, while photographer Amber Gress captured the pair celebrating and dancing with their loved ones. “I wasn’t too nervous,” the Young Sheldon actor said at CBS Upfronts. “[There was] just a lot to organize and I thought, ‘Well, this will be sort of fun.’ And sort of, ‘Let’s get through this,’ [and] then it was all fun.”
In fact, he’s now feeling the fun. “It was the latest I stayed up in many years,” he said. “I’ll be honest with you—I’m still paying for it. I got a cold, I was at the doctor earlier and got antibiotics.”
The newlyweds have now been together for 15 years. Parsons quietly came out as gay in a 2012 New York Times profile.
The actor, who’s now narrating and serving as executive producer of a Big Bang spin-off called Young Sheldon, invited his co-star Mayim Bialik to witness his wedding. The actress took to Instagram to share a photo of the newlyweds, and wrote: “Not a cell phone in sight. Everyone was so present, which sounds pretentious but it was truly powerful for us all to just want to be there fully. Todd and @therealjimparsons, you are so loved.”
