Busy Philipps is once again the bride. The late night host celebrated her reunion with her Made of Honor co-stars Michelle Monaghan and Whitney Cummings on Wednesday, April 10, by re-wearing her wedding dress 12 years after she married producer Marc Silverstein.
Back in 2007, Philipps flew from Scotland, where the movie was filmed, back to L.A. for her actual wedding to Silverstein.
“Mark and I were planning a surprise wedding, I didn’t wear a ring and we didn’t anyone we were getting married,” Philipps said. “We just had invited all of our friends to this surprise birthday party. They thought they were coming to surprise me. But the plan was always that I would show up in this dress—as you can see, it’s a real showstopper—and then we would say, ‘Surprise is on you, we’re getting married right now!’”
While she planned the surprise nuptials, Philipps was cast for her role in Made of Honor. “How could I say no to a job that’s so good?” she said. “They assured me that it wouldn’t be a big deal and the schedule would work out, and the schedule did not work out. I was in literally the furthest place on Earth.”
Cummings then joked about the challenges of filming before Philipps’s wedding ceremony. “The day before your wedding, we were shooting on an actual swamp,” noted the comedienne, who’s now engaged. “I spent most of the day holding a net over Busy’s face so that she didn’t get bug bites on her face!”
Philipps then took to Instagram to re-live the memories. “Yes. I really pulled out my wedding dress from 12 years ago and wore it on my show tonight,” she wrote on Instagram. “It basically fit except my stupid upper rib cage which grew after my 2 babies. No one tells you about that s—. But babies expand your rib cage so, just be aware. This is a PSA.”
