A wave of nostalgia inspired actress Busy Philipps to treat her parents, Barbara and Joe, to a Disney Cruise for their 50th anniversary. The Dawson’s Creek alum and her sister, Leigh, accompanied the longtime lovebirds on the trip, and on Thursday, May 11, Phillips planned yet another surprise for the duo’s special day.
The Freaks and Geeks actress, 37, shocked her parents by showing up to brunch donning her mother’s wedding gown from 1967. Following the sentimental surprise, Philipps reflected on the memorable moment in an Instagram post.
“As a surprise to my mom, I brought her wedding dress on the cruise and wore it to brunch this morning,” she wrote, alongside the family photo. “Lucky for me, they got married in the 60s and it’s a super cute A-line mini, so I wasn’t walking around this boat in a floor-length wedding dress!”
Unsurprisingly, the actress’ mom was emotional. “Of course she burst into tears and I felt like Ross from Friends. Sorry Monica! (aka my sister @phoenixlala),” Philipps added as a nod to the popular ‘90s sitcom.

Philipps, who currently stars in HBO’s Vice Principals, also posted a black-and-white snap of her parents from their wedding in honor of the milestone. “Even though I was skeptical, this cruise has been the sweetest gift for their anniversary,” she reflected. “As you can tell, we’ve all been having the best time.”
The cruise was the perfect getaway for the busy actress and her family. From seaside caves to pirate adventures with her father, the proud mom of daughters Birdie, 8, and Cricket, 3, appeared to have a wonderful time with everyone in tow.
Philipps and her husband, screenwriter Marc Silverstein, will celebrate 10 years of marriage on June 16.
