Some couples were truly meant for each other, and Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz are among them. To mark Diaz’s 45th birthday, Madden took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 30, to share a sweet message about his wife of two years.
“Happy Birthday to my Beautiful Wife,” the rocker wrote. “I feel like I am the LUCKIEST guy ALIVE I don’t think anyone could ever know the Depth, Kindness, and Compassion that I get to experience everyday thanks to My One and Only- You got me til the end baby.”
The duo dated for seven months before making their union official in January 2015, in an intimate, tented backyard ceremony held at Diaz’s Beverly Hills mansion. The bride was 42 at the time of her wedding—and she has zero regrets about waiting. “I think it’s a matter of I just hadn’t met my husband,” Diaz told Gwyneth Paltrow at a Goop conference in June. “I had boyfriends before, and there’s a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends.”
She continued, “He’s just my partner in life, in everything. I’ve never had anyone who supported me so much and gave me so much courage to be myself and to really explore myself. My husband has been able to show me what it’s like to … be an equal. And I’ve learned so much from him. I look at him every day and he inspires me. I feel so lucky.”
Madden’s sister-in-law Nicole Richie introduced the pair, and also served as a bridesmaid in the ceremony. Diaz’s best friend Drew Barrymore was also a bridesmaid, opposite Benji’s brothers Josh and Joel, who both served as groomsmen.
