Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden may have been keeping their relationship quiet, but there’s no doubt now that their love is strong. In a rare public showing of affection and pride for her husband, Diaz took to Instagram on Friday to offer Madden a sincere declaration of love.

“One of my favorite things about being married, is how much pride I take in my husband,” Diaz, 43, captioned the social media post. “He makes me proud everyday. One day it might be how generous and giving, another how gentle and thoughtful. Or when he is fiercely protective of the people he loves and cares about.”

Honoring her husband’s band Good Charlotte’s long-awaited album Youth Authority released on July 15, she shared her pride in Madden’s accomplishments publicly next to a video announcing the comeback release – the band’s first in 6 years.

One of my favorite things about being married, is how much pride I take in my husband @benjaminmadden… He makes me proud everyday.. One day it might be how generous and giving, another how gentle and thoughtful. Or when he is fiercely protective of the people he loves and cares about… And everyday single day I am so incredibly proud of his integrity as a human being.. But TODAY what I’m most proud of is his talent… his gift…. Today his band @goodcharlotteband released their first album in 6 years #YouthAuthority .. What makes me even more proud is that he has released it on his own independent label MDDN… And it is so damn GOOOOOOOOD… Its so full of love and hope and truth… about forging and holding onto love… I wish that everyone could write music to express their pain.. their fears… their hopes and dreams. Baby you amaze me… CONGRATS!! @goodcharloteband @mddnco #youthauthority #proud http://apple.co/YouthAuthority

Gushing about Good Charlotte’s latest album, released under Madden’s own label MDDN, she added, “I wish that everyone could write music to express their pain… Their fears… Their hopes and dreams. The celebration of her husband came shortly after Madden had expressed his own adoration for Diaz during an interview with Newsweek, in which he called the actress a “modern day feminist” in regards to her latest book release The Longevity Book.

“I’m extremely proud of what she uses her platform for,” Madden, 37, told Newsweek. “She’s using that platform she has to share positivity,” he said, continuing his praise of her extensive research and drive to “change the conversation that’s being had about women and ageing.”

Madden and Diaz began dating in May 2014 and were engaged shortly thereafter. On January 5, 2015 they wed in a private ceremony at Diaz’s home in Beverly Hills in the presence of fellow actors, musicians and family including Madden’s twin brother and Good Charlotte bandmate Joel Madden and Joel’s wife Nicole Richie.

“It’s been one of the most inspirational things in my life watching a woman be so courageous… She’s got so much integrity,” Madden added in his recent interview, “I’m a lucky guy that I get to experience that.”
