Okurrr… it’s real. “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker Cardi B confirmed on Monday, June 24, that she secretly married her fiancé, Offset, more than nine months ago after a TMZ report revealed the couple’s marriage certificate.
The couple’s marriage certificate documented the union between “Kiari Kendrell Cephus” and “Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar” (Cardi B and Offset’s birth names). It was signed in Fulton County, Georgia, on September 20, 2017.
The rapper, 25, specifically tweeted about the no-longer-private moment. “This why I name my album Invasion of Privacy cause people will do the most to be [nosy] about your life,” she wrote. “There are so many moments that I share with the world and then there are moments that I want to keep for myself! Getting married was one of those moments!”
Cardi B also addressed some of the drama the couple initially faced in the public eye. “Our relationship was so new breaking up and making up and we had a lot of growing up to do,” she added, “but we was so in love we didn’t want to lose each other, was one morning in September we woke up and decided to get married.”
The pair did, in fact, get married on whim in their bedroom with only a family witness there to witness the moment. “I said I do with no dress no makeup and no ring!” she added in her note. His grand gesture of a proposal last fall was supposedly Offset simply delivering his promise to get her a ring.
“I appreciate and love my husband so much for still wanting for me to have that special moment that every girl dreams of when he got down on his knee and put a ring on my finger,” she noted. “And he did that for me!!”
The couple’s marriage was reported the morning after Offset dropped a mega hint at the BET Awards on Sunday night while accepting the Best Group Award onstage on behalf of Migos.
“Thank God!” Offset gushed on stage. “I thank my wife; you should thank yours.”
Offset and Cardi B are no strangers to sharing big life events with the public. He proposed to the breakout rapper with a mega eight-carat ring during a concert last October. “Thank you God for all these blessings,” she wrote at the time. “Thank you babe @offsetyrn God really sent you to me.”
