Barefoot and breathtaking. Professional surfer Carissa Moore is married, she confirms to The Knot. The athlete wed her high school sweetheart, Luke Untermann, in a beautiful outdoor ceremony on the grounds of a friend’s Oahu estate on Saturday, December 16.
“We’re just high school sweethearts who are so excited to be starting this next chapter of our lives together,” Moore tells The Knot exclusively alongside the first reveal of her wedding photos taken by Maui Maka Photography.
Three-hundred guests witnessed the pair, ages 25, devote their lives to each other, including the bride’s fellow professional surfers Bethany Hamilton, John John Florence, Coco Ho, Stephanie Gilmore and Kelia Termini.
Honolulu-based wedding planner and designer Mimi Wisnosky helped the couple pull off their wedding day vision. “I’m so happy with how everything turned out,” Moore adds. “My wedding planner really did an amazing job making this a huge dreamy luau on the north shore. Luke and I are so grateful.”
Moore walked down the aisle in a “super minimalistic” gown with a high neck that she happened to find while perusing a little shop on the North Shore. The bride opted to go without a veil—and she stayed true to the low-key, casual aesthetic by going barefoot.
During the vows, Untermann—the co-creator of Banan—spoke about wanting many kids with Moore and went on to share a sweet pledge of devotion to his wife. “I promise to hug and kiss you every time you walk through the door—even if it’s only been five minutes,” he said.
In return, the Red Bull athlete vowed to her husband: “I’m not sure I can give you the small football team of children you’re dreaming for, but I promise to be the best mother and the best wife.”
