She’s a lucky lady. Caroline Wozniacki captured the Grand Slam title, her very first, at the Australian Open this weekend, and there to help the tennis star celebrate the victory was fiancé David Lee.
Lee, an NBA free agent, posted a photo of Wozniacki kissing her trophy moments after she secured her win against Simona Halep at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. “Australian Open Champion and back to #1 in the world!!!” Lee expressed on Instagram. “Endless congrats to my amazing fiancée on her heart and dedication, so proud to have your back for life.”
Wozniacki surprisingly wore her ring on the court during the competition. The top-seeded tennis champ and the former New York Knicks player got engaged in November 2017, during a romantic getaway in Bora Bora.
The Knot got exclusive details about the oval-shape diamond directly from the jeweler, Joey Hamra of New York City-based Hamra Diamonds. “We designed the ring with David’s input [expressing] Caroline’s ideas,” he told us at the time. “She liked the diamond band look, [but didn’t want] it to take away any focus from the main center diamond.”
“The ring is super unique in the fact that it totals at 8.88 carats. It was a focus when we were making the ring and originally sourcing the diamond,” Hamra added. “The reason it was so important is because 8 is Caroline’s favorite number… David really wanted to make sure we got that done.”
