Thankfully, the NHL hunk played it cool. In a new interview, country superstar Carrie Underwood reiterated how she first met her husband of six years, Mike Fisher, and the setting (as recalled) was atypical from the usual blind date spot.
Underwood appeared on The Tyler Oakley Show on Monday, November 7, and played a special round of “Dirty Laundry” in honor of her latest smash single. There, Oakley asked Underwood if she’s ever made out with a fan.
“I would hope that anyone that I enjoy adult-time with would be a fan of my passions,” the YouTube star noted to Underwood. “So, same question to you. Wouldn’t you hope that your husband is a fan?”
“No, he was!” the singer, 33, replied. “I met him at a meet and greet.”
As recalled, Underwood was set up with Fisher through her bassist Mike Childers back in 2008. The superstar revealed these details from this fateful encounter back in 2012 in her Behind the Music special. Underwood explained how she wasn’t initially into the idea of a blind date and thought it would be easier to have Fisher greet her backstage—to alleviate the pressure.
Underwood, however, had no idea that Fisher would be so handsome, and later texted Childers, writing: “Hot, hot, hot.” So basically, Underwood and the NHL star, 36, are forever indebted to the musician for orchestrating the perfect connection.
The couple married in 2010, and recently celebrated their six-year wedding anniversary. Just last month, the Grammy winner shared a close-up photo of her yellow diamond engagement ring and posted a cute pic from a date night with her handsome other half.
“How I ended up snagging this handsome hunk, I’ll never know, but I thank God that I did!” Underwood wrote. “I don’t know what I’d do without him!”
