More glitz at the Grammys. The Voice winner Cassadee Pope brought along a sparkling, new accessory on the 2017 Grammy Awards red carpet on Sunday, February 12, following her engagement to All Time Low drummer Rian Dawson.
The singer, who wore a metallic Julia Clancey gown to the star-studded event, was joined by “Think of You” collaborator Chris Young on the red carpet. Naturally, the future bride couldn’t resist from sharing details from Dawson’s proposal.
“I had no idea. It was such a surprise,” Pope told People. “It was a Tuesday morning and I was still in my PJs. This is such a stupid story. He was sweeping in the living room and our puppy a little french bull dog—the love our lives—was biting the broom so I took Cuppy… and I put him in the bedroom and Ryan was like, ‘Okay, you can let him out.’”
“And I opened the door and he was on one knee,” she recalled. “It was perfect, in our home that we love with our little son.”
Dawson, 29, proposed to the country singer with a cushion-cut ring that includes a halo of diamonds. The stone was set on double diamond bands.
“I feel a little nervous wearing it,” Pope continued. “I haven’t gotten used to it. I take it off to wash my face. I don’t know if that’s normal.”
A few tweaks will also need to be made to the band. “Also fit size— it’s a little big,” she continued. “That’s all I feel comfortable telling you. The other stuff is a little personal.”
Pope and Dawson both took to Instagram to announce the news this weekend. “WE’RE ENGAGED,” Pope shared, while the drummer added: “The love of my life is now OFFICIALLY the love of my life. Never been happier.”
The two have yet to even settle down with wedding planning details. “Ryan is going on tour in March,” she concluded on Sunday. “We want to take our time with planning and enjoy being engaged.”
