Nev Schulman has caught a live one! The Catfish tv personality and documentary producer proposed to his pregnant girlfriend, Laura Perlongo, this past weekend. The pair announced their big engagement news with adorable social media posts on Sunday, May 22, including a reveal of Perlongo’s stunning engagement ring.
In the photos, Schulman — who first rose to fame with the Catfish documentary about his own deceitful encounter in the online dating world — beams alongside his expecting fiancee. Schulman has since upgraded his documentary into an MTV series that’s become so popular that the word “catfish” is now synonymous with the online dating scheme; it even gained a Merriam-Webster dictionary definition in 2014.
Schulman, 31, couldn’t wait to share the news of his engagement on Instagram, and posted a selfie with his future bride. The two hilariously sported grumpy faces as she held up her engagement ring. “We’re enraged!” the MTV star joked.
But the two were all smiles for the next pic. “Seriously though, couldn’t be more in love with this nugget,” Schulman continued, alongside a pic of himself cuddling with his new fiancee. “So excited to spend my life with you @el_peego”

Perlongo seems to have Schulman eating right out of her hands…literally! The newly-engaged mother-to-be snapped a photo of herself feeding her fiance giving a closer glimpse of her gorgeous diamond engagement ring writing, “it’s all serious now”
Schulman popped the question with a stunning center stone complete with a halo of diamonds set on a diamond-encrusted band.
Perlongo also posted a pic reminiscent of American Beauty. “Looking through photos from this whirlwind weekend when it finally dawned on me that I’m 5 months pregnant and engaged to the love of my life/best friend/twin clown/source of daily inspiration and so perfectly obnoxiously happy and blessed and giddy,” she captioned the image. “So before I explode into tiny doves I wanted to share with the world what I looked like days before that explosion happens (for forensics etc).”
“Out of breath. Out of words. Out of rose petals but never out of love. Completely floored. I love you endlessly @nevschulman,” she wrote.
While the couple have yet to share their wedding plans, Perlongo announced the news of her pregnancy in a blog post on May 11. The future mom and wife revealed the gender of their baby and wrote, “P.S. She says hi.”
