Though 2019 didn’t kick off with expectations of a royal wedding (à la 2018’s Meghan Markle and Prince Harry extravaganza) it was still chock-full of nuptials between members of Hollywood royalty. Take Idris Elba, who DJ’d for Meghan and Harry’s wedding and got hitched in late April. Better yet, many of the celebrities totally shocked and delighted fans, like Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, who exchanged vows in a surprise Las Vegas ceremony officiated by an Elvis impersonator the night of the Billboard Music Awards. Here, take a look back at who’s gotten married so far in the calendar year, with many months to go for even more A-list “I do”s.

1. Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham (January 12)

A lot has happened since the final rose for Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham, who got engaged in a controversial ending to Luyendyk’s 2018 season of The Bachelor. The pair announced that they were expecting a little Bachelor baby in November 2018, then dropped hints about their impending nuptials not long after that. On January 12, the couple exchanged vows at Haiku Mill, a converted sugar mill in Maui, Hawaii. They sealed the start of their new journey together with a kiss under a lush green arch.

“I knew I was going to be emotional once I saw Arie, because I, too, had been picturing that moment in my head over and over again,” Burnham told The Knot. “I was tearing up as I walked towards Arie, but my dad did a good job of keeping things light for me.”

2. Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin (January 26)

Though they waited a few weeks before announcing the exciting news, Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin’s secret wedding was nothing short of magical. The singer, who was previously married to fellow country star Blake Shelton, shared a sweet photo of herself in a Lela Rose wedding gown mid-February “in honor of Valentine’s Day.” It was later revealed that the pair actually got hitched on January 26. “My heart is full,” she captioned the photos of herself cuddling up to McLoughlin, whom she met in New York City the previous fall. “Thank you Brendan McLoughlin for loving me for … me.”

3. Darren Criss and Mia Swier (February 16)

Glee’s Darren Criss pulled out all the stops for his February 16 wedding to longtime love Mia Swier, stretching the New Orleans celebration into several days and showing off his (and her!) musical prowess to cap off the magical weekend. “It was less a celebration of us specifically and more a celebration of the life we’ve built together,” Criss told Vogue at the time. “The whole thing was a dream. It was exactly what we had hoped it would be. Best weekend of our lives.” The festivities kicked off with an ’80s prom-themed welcome party; Criss strummed a guitar and sang as his and Swier’s families made their way down the aisle; the couple officiated their own ceremony; and the newlyweds shared a first song in place of a first dance at the end of the night.

4. Chance the Rapper and Kirsten Corley (March 9)

Theirs is a love story fit for a fairy tale. Chance the Rapper (née Chancelor Johnathan Bennett) married his childhood sweetheart, Kirsten Corley, in a domestination wedding at the Pelican Hill resort in Newport Beach, California, on March 9, bringing their adorable meet-cute full circle. In the week leading up to the wedding, the rapper tweeted about their first meeting in a thread that has since gone viral. He explained he first set eyes on Corley when he was just 9 years old, and knew from that moment on that she would be his wife. He was too shy at the time to dance with Corley at an event they both attended, but his hesitation was also in part because he “knew” there were bigger things to come.

“This wknd is the time, and the place is my wedding,” he wrote in the same thread. “I’m gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny.”

5. Lea Michele and Zandy Reich (March 9)

It should come as no surprise that Lea Michele’s March 9 nuptials to Zandy Reich were a musical affair. The former Glee star and Broadway veteran exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony in Napa surrounded by close family and friends, with sweet details sprinkled throughout the ceremony and reception, including place cards and poster boards printed with music notes. Ryan Murphy officiated the wedding, while Michele wore a theatrical, stunning custom gown by Monique Lhuillier; she later traded it in for a lace mini by the same designer for the wedding reception.

6. Marc Jacobs and Charly Defrancesco (April 6)

Beloved designer Marc Jacobs got married to his beau, candle designer Char Defrancesco, in an appropriately fashionable style at a star-studded New York City wedding on April 6. The couple arrived at their wedding venue in a 1962 Rolls Royce Phantom, with Jacobs in a bespoke blue suit tailored by Huntsman Savile Row and Defrancesco in a velvet green suit by the same high-fashion house. An especially touching detail included penguin pins made of diamonds and onyx, created especially for them by Prada’s lead designer Fabio Zambernardi. “Penguins have only one partner and mate for life,” Jacobs captioned a photo of the cute pin on Instagram. “A great example of faithfulness and fidelity. So grateful to you and love you so much dear Fabio.” Guests included everyone from Kate Moss to the Hadid sisters to Naomi Campbell.

7. Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson (April 13)

Partners for life! Dancing With the Stars pros Valentin Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson got married on April 13 in a sunny outdoor ceremony at the scenic Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. And appropriately, the newlyweds donned their finest outfits for the occasion: Johnson wore a mermaid gown with sheer sleeves by Vera Wang, while Chmerkovskiy looked handsome in a bespoke tux by Brooks Brothers. The couple got engaged in June 2018 in Venice, Italy, after three years of dating.

8. Michelle Branch and Patrick Carney (April 20)

Michelle Branch and Patrick Carney made for quite the musical pairing at their April 20 New Orleans wedding ceremony. The singers exchanged vows before close friends and family at the beautiful Marigny Opera House, harnessing good energy from their big day. Their union was previously met with some “spooky” energy, courtesy of a mysterious brooch that the Black Keys drummer bought for his love as a wedding present. “Does anyone here have any stories of ‘energetic’ jewelry?” Branch captioned a shot of the colorful antique piece. “Don’t worry, I’ve already cleared it with sage.” The couple got engaged in the summer of 2017 after meeting at a Grammys party in 2015. They share a young son together, Rhys James Carney, whom they welcomed in August 2018.

9. Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre (April 26)

Idris Elba is officially off the market! The one-time Sexiest Man Alive wed his love, Sabrina Dhowre, in a glamorous ceremony at the Ksar Char Bath hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco, on April 26. The pair, who originally met on the set of The Mountain Between Us, got engaged in February 2018. They excitedly exchanged vows before their family and friends in what Dhowre called “the best day of my life.” Elba donned a black suit by Oswald Boateng, while the bride wore a custom Vera Wang gown; she later changed into another one-of-a-kind look, also by Wang.

10. Giacomo Gianniotti and Nichole Gustafson (April 28)

Grey’s Anatomy actor Giacomo Gianniotti dug deep into his roots for his wedding to longtime love Nichole Gustafson at the Villa Pocci in Rome, Italy. The low-key actor wore a custom tux by Armani, while Gustafon chose an off-the-shoulder, lace, mermaid-style gown by Netta BenShabu Bridal. From their venue, the newlyweds had a prime view of the Castel Gandolfo. “Huge thank you to our incredible team that gave us the most magical wedding!” Gianniotti captioned a stunning photo of the pair on their wedding day. “We are forever indebted to you for making this day a dream come true. We are still floating.” The couple announced their engagement over Thanksgiving weekend back in 2017.

11. Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner (May 1)

Surprise! Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner shocked fans—and maybe a few family members—when they got hitched at the iconic A Little White Wedding Chapel on May 1 shortly after the Billboard Music Awards. Jonas donned a grey suit, while Turner wore a white Bevza jumpsuit with a veil. Not only where they married by an Elvis impersonator, but their wedding took place on Elvis’ own anniversary. As for entertainment, country duo Dan + Shay crooned at the end of the aisle. Both Nick and Kevin Jonas were present for the exchange of vows, as were Diplo and Khaled (because, why not?); the DJ shared snaps from the impromptu nuptials on Instagram. The duo got engaged in October 2017, and will likely still have a more formal celebration in France in the summer of 2019.
