She’s dancing into marriage! Dancing With the Stars pro Cheryl Burke is engaged to Mrs. Doubtfire actor Matthew Lawrence, she announced via Instagram early Friday, May 4.
Lawrence, best known for his roles in Brotherly Love and Boy Meets World, popped the question at the Montage in Laguna Beach, California, on Thursday night, just in time for Burke’s 34th birthday. “OMG!” the dance pro expressed in her announcement. “So far so good for 34! #amilliontimesyes #imengaged#herecomesthebride.”
Burke’s ring is an art deco-inspired piece that includes a center stone surrounded by a double round halo.
The couple’s love story spans more than a decade after they first met in 2006 through a mutual pal—Matthew’s brother Joey Lawrence, who appeared on season three of ABC’s smash dance competition series DWTS. Burke and Matthew started dating in 2007 before splitting a year later. They reconciled a decade after their initial split.
Just last year, Burke told Us Weekly that she wanted to build a life with her beau. “We really want to do it right,” she mused. “We want to do the steps of being engaged, moving in together, getting married and having kids. He’s 37, I’m 33, so it’s about that time. And of course I see Maks [Chmerkovskiy] and Peta [Murgatroyd] with their baby and everyone is having babies right now. So I’m like, ‘It’s time for me to have one!’”
