So that’s how it happened. A week after she said “yes,” Dancing With the Stars pro Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence revealed their proposal story while chatting with Us Weekly about their engagement and future wedding plans.
In an interview published Wednesday, May 9, the two were in their hotel room in Laguna Beach, California, to watch the sunset when Lawrence dropped to one knee. “I handed her this note,” the Brotherly Love and Boy Meets World alum, 38, recalled to the mag.
The note itself read: “I will love you always and forever. That’s what’s engraved in this ring—I want you to marry me.”
Burke, of course, said yes. “I had chills all over,” the Dancing With the Stars pro, 34, chimed in. “It was perfect.”
The beaming bride-to-be took to Instagram to announce the big news a week ago on Friday, May 4. “OMG!” the dance pro expressed in her announcement. “So far so good for 34! #amilliontimesyes #imengaged#herecomesthebride.”
Next up? The couple will tackle wedding planning. “We definitely want to get married as soon as possible,” Burke said. “Originally we wanted to do a destination wedding, so we have different places we’re eyeing.”
One of the destination locations is Amanpulo, a luxurious, under-the-radar location in the Philippines. “We went with Cheryl’s family over the holidays and it’s just such a magical place,” Lawrence added of the island.
