In the early hours of Monday, January 14, actor Chris Pratt made a surprising announcement when he revealed his engagement to Katherine Schwarzenegger, his girlfriend of less than one year.
“Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes!” the Guardians of the Galaxy lead wrote in his post. “I’m thrilled to be marrying you.”

Mom knows best? It’s first reported by People that Schwarzenegger and Pratt–now nearly single for a year–are dating. The surprising and unexpected pair was set up through Schwarzenegger’s mom, Maria Shriver. Images also surfaced of the two at a Father’s Day picnic.

Three months in, an insider told People that the relationship between Pratt and his girlfriend was turning rather serious.
“They’re such a great fit together,” the insider told the mag. “It’s only been a few months but Chris and Katherine are both very serious about the relationship and their friends wouldn’t be surprised if they got engaged sooner rather than later. Katherine has spent time with Chris’ family and they all love her too. She fits in really well with them and vice versa.”
That same month, the couple joined Pratt’s brother, Cully Pratt, for a relaxing tasting at Napa’s Round Pond Estate winery. “So thankful for time shared with my family & friends!” Cully wrote on his page.
