She only marries once! When it came to her wedding day attire, Kelsea Ballerini wanted to make a grand entrance in more than one look, so the country superstar naturally opted for three separate bridal pieces.
For the ceremony, which took place on December 2 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the “Dibs” hitmaker walked down the aisle in a lace, beach-appropriate gown by Berta. “I had no idea what I wanted for a wedding dress; I just never really thought about it,” Ballerina told People, which shared the exclusive first photos from her wedding. “So, I was scrolling through Instagram one day, which is a lot of the times how I found my award show dresses. I saw a picture of this dress, and I immediately was like, ‘I think that’s my dress.’ I sent it to my stylist, like, ‘Can you get this? Can I try it on?’”
Still, Ballerini was unable to find the piece—a flowy frock that featured a plunging lace bodice and a thigh high slit. It took several months to track it down, and the special moment ultimately arrived when the bride’s mother and her stylist, Krista Roser, hosted a wedding dress shopping experience for the bride and her pals at a Nashville bridal boutique.
“I put it on and I was so happy because I knew it was the dress,” she told People. “I walked out, and we’d turned on [‘Marry You’], and me and all the girls just popped a bottle of champagne and danced to Bruno Mars, in the dress. That was the perfect first memory of me in that dress to set the tone for getting to marry him in it.”
The Berta gown, perfect for the oceanfront ceremony, was then set aside at the reception for a dance floor-friendly look. The bride chose a piece by Australian brand Grace Loves Lace—the name behind the most-Pinned wedding dress—which she paired with shoes by Stuart Weitzman.
Following the reception, Ballerini then changed into a Tadashi Shoji jumpsuit for the after-party.
Her husband was enamored with each and every look, but his favorite moment was witnessing Ballerini walk down the aisle. “I watched the most beautiful girl in the world get better looking with every step,” he said in the same interview, “and then I got to marry her!”
