This is… marriage. Country singer Scott McCreery, the force behind the wildly popular wedding single “This Is Us,” is now officially a married man. The season 10 American Idol winner married love of six years, Gabi Dugal, before 200 friends and family members on Saturday, June 16.
McCreery teased the nuptials on Saturday morning via Twitter, by writing, “This is it”—a nod to his single of the same name, which adorably details their entire dating and engagement story. The couple revealed the first photo from their wedding to People.
“We’ve been dating six years and have known each other our whole lives. That kind of story doesn’t happen too often nowadays,” McCreery said to the magazine. “I support her dreams and she supports mine.”
Dugal is a pediatric cardiac nurse at Duke.
The couple enjoyed a packed past few days of festivities, kicking off the wedding weekend with a Cajun-style shrimp boil on Thursday. They then hosted their rehearsal dinner in an elevated location, which they said was “up on the cliffs” right at the wedding venue itself.
McCreery and Dugal wed before the groom’s childhood pastor, and the bride looked resplendent in a gown by Morilee.
McCreery previously stopped by The Knot’s offices where he took his wedding style quiz. He proposed last September. “I’ve been planning this moment for so long that it feels surreal for it to have finally happened,” he said at the time of the engagement. “Gabi is the perfect girl and my true love, and I cannot wait to begin building our life together as husband and wife.”
