This will be one particularly eventful wedding. After winning the World Series last week, Chicago Cubs player Kris Bryant joined Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen DeGeneres in separate appearances on Monday, November 7.
The third baseman, 24, emerged as one of the team’s heartthrobs during the playoffs—but his heart already belongs to another lucky lady, his fiancee, Jessica Delp. While on Kimmel, Bryant discussed their upcoming wedding plans and how most of their registry items have already been fulfilled.
“I hope [pitcher] Travis Wood shows up with a shirt on,” the groom said of his future nuptials. “Anthony Rizzo’s actually going to be in the wedding, which is cool. He’s one of my really good friends. So it’ll be fun.”
Like Cleveland Indians pitcher Ryan Merritt, Bryant has also been on the receiving end of gratitude from adoring fans. The Cubs player said random fans have sourced his registries and sent gifts.
“I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond with the little thing [a scanner] and was shooting the barcode,” the athlete explained.
DeGeneres, meanwhile, handed Bryant a team logo-emblazoned tuxedo when he stopped by her show. “I have a wedding gift for you,” the television personality teased on Tuesday. “I hope you wear it to your wedding.”
Bryant proposed to his high school sweetheart in December 2015, and the couple subsequently staged their engagement photos inside Wrigley Field.
None of this felt real, until today! Thank you Chicago for an amazing day! We are blessed to have shared this with you all #WorldSeries pic.twitter.com/oQQt4OtVjR
