Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers is married! The musician wed his longtime love, Abby Law, on Saturday, May 13, surrounded by loved ones in a Nashville ceremony.
According to People, the couple exchanged vows at sunset, and their dogs, Chief, Joy, and Ghost, donned tuxedos and a matching dress as part of the bridal party. Law planned the majority of the nuptials, as Smyers, 29, and his bandmate, Shay Mooney, have been traveling the country on their “Obsessed” tour.
The lovebirds, who announced their engagement last November, initially planned on an intimate union. “We were going to try and keep it super small, but we have so many people that we love and care about and we both have decent-sized families,” Law told People prior to the wedding. “The numbers add up really quickly.”
Smyers explained that the ceremony was representative of both he and his bride. “We’re both vegetarians so there’s going to be a lot of vegetarian and vegan food options, and our dogs are going to be in the wedding so it’s going to be very us and laid-back,” he told the publication.
The groom couldn’t wait to welcome friends and family to the couple’s “favorite place in the world.” “A lot of them have never been here,” he noted. “We built our love story in Nashville, and it’ll be cool to get everybody there to see where it all began for us.”
The singer and his love dated for more than three years before getting engaged on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. “It’ll be nice to make it official,” he concluded to People. “Everybody’s story is different; everybody’s timeline is different, but by the time we got engaged, we were so familiar with each other that there wasn’t anything foreign or scary.”
Law added: “We’re very much looking forward to being husband and wife, because our life has been really wonderful together.”
