Emma Slater‘s new engagement ring is no ordinary bling! The Dancing With the Stars pro was shocked when her longtime love, fellow dance pro Sasha Farber, proposed live during the show on Tuesday, October 4 – but it turns out the ring he slipped on her finger wasn’t a complete surprise.
“She had gone shopping and picked it,” Farber, 33, told People after the emotional proposal. “I spoke to her sister and she told me and I went and got it.” Slater’s unique ring was created by Michael’s Jeweler on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, California.
The future bride, 27, describes the gorgeous piece of jewelry as having a “vintage” look with a “dusky, sort of rose” center stone. “It’s the same color as my mom’s ring,” Slater said of her sparkly, sapphire engagement ring. “I actually don’t like pink. I say it’s a wine color.”
Slater also took to Instagram the morning after her engagement to admire her sparkling new jewel — and fiance. “It’s 7am here and I am standing in my garden doing this,” the beauty shared, alongside a video of natural light reflecting off the gem. “I can’t believe that’s my finger wearing the second most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen!! The sapphire in this literally changes color in different lights, I’ve never seen anything like it, I’m so unbelievably in love with it! I’ve always been a colored stone person, and I just can’t believe this is my engagement ring.”
The newly engaged couple met eight years ago and began dating two years later. Farber told People on Tuesday that he knew Slater was the one “three or four months” after they met.
However, they’re in no rush to get married. “We’ve been together five-and-a-half years,” his fiancee explained after the show. “We bought a house recently and this feels like the natural progression. My mother said once that marriage should feel natural and not like a surprise. It should be expected because that’s when it’s right. It’s already felt like I’ve been his fiancee and wife for years now. Apart from the heaviness of my arm [because of the ring], it feels quite natural.”

Farber’s family lives in his native country of Australia, and his fiancee’s family lives in her home country of England. “We may have three weddings!” Farber teased after the live proposal.

It seems both Farber and Slater were on cloud nine after becoming engaged. The soon-to-be groom took to Instagram to share the good news with fans. “She said yessssssssss,” he captioned an image of he and his love on the DWTS dance floor. “One moment in my life I will cherish for ever!!!! @dancingabc.”

Slater followed up with a heartfelt announcement of her own. “I will never forget this moment, the best day of my life. I’m engaged to @sashafarber1!!!!!! @dancingabc,” she gushed.
The hit ABC show gave DWTS fans a first look at Slater’s gorgeous new bling on their Instagram account. “First picture of the ring! #Emasha is our everything goals right now. #DWTS,” they captioned an adorable image of the couple.
