Glitz and glam! Mark Ballas has shared the first photo from his November 25 wedding to BC Jean. The gorgeous image captures the newlyweds dressed to the nines and clearly in love.
“Mr & Mrs Ballas 11 // 25 // 16,” the Dancing With the Stars pro, 30, captioned the image of himself embracing his beautiful bride, 29. The groom opted for a classic tuxedo, while his love wore a figure-hugging lace gown with intricate beading and crystals. She topped off her unique bridal look with a Bohemian-style headpiece.
In the photo, the bridal party stands casually on a vintage carousel in the background. The men are clad in vests and ties, and it appears that the ladies wore white gowns.
The groom’s childhood friend and fellow dancer, Derek Hough, served as best man. Dancing With the Stars pros Julianne Hough, Sharna Burgess, Cheryl Burke, and the newly engaged Sasha Farber and Emma Slater witnessed the nuptials, which took place in Southern California.
Ballas began dating the songwriter (Brittney Jean Carlson) back in 2012. The couple formed their own band, Alexander Jean, and in 2015, Ballas took inspiration from one of the group’s songs, “Roses and Violets.” to plan a romantic proposal.
On the day before Thanksgiving, the dance pro lined the driveway of the couple’s Los Angeles home with roses and violets. He decorated the inside of the house (which was being renovated) in a Woodstock theme, and had the band’s manager call Jean to tell her she was needed at home. Ballas was nervous as he dropped to one knee and asked her to be his wife. The couple’s loved ones, who had been hiding upstairs, appeared to congratulate the newly engaged duo.
The planning process was an enjoyable experience for Ballas. “Planning our wedding is one of the most exciting times of my life–then again our lives. I’m just taking it in stride,” he told People back in October. “There’s no stress. I’m not worrying about anything. I’m just taking every day as it comes. This is an honor. It’s a blessing. The wedding is going to be beautiful, and I know that. We’re excited!”
