Darren Criss already had a lot on his plate when he proposed to longtime girlfriend Mia Swier in January, but according to the Glee alum, he’s welcoming the challenge of juggling it all.
“I wouldn’t recommend doing all this stuff at the same time,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I’ve got a music festival, I’ve got records I’m still producing… I opened a bar.”
However, it’s been a rather rewarding process. “Wedding planning, yeah. It’s not a good time to be on this circuit, but hey! You know, when it rains, [it] pours,” he mused. “I don’t need an umbrella. I’m loving it, man.”
Criss, 31, got engaged to Swier, 32, on January 20 after seven-and-a-half years of dating, and the actor excitedly shared the news with shortly afterward.
“Mia and I have had seven and a half years of fun, wacky, wonderful, CRAZY adventures together,” Criss captioned an adorable photo of the pair goofing off in front of a Japanese-style home. “And I’m happy to announce that we’re kicking those adventures up a notch. We’re goin for it. To boldly go where neither of us have gone before. Engage.”
Criss is also, incidentally, up for a Primetime Emmy this fall for his haunting portrayal of Andrew Cunanan, better known as the man who killed Gianni Versace in 1997, on Ryan Murphy’s hit American Crime Story series.
Meanwhile, Swier, who is a writer and producer at Fox Networks, no doubt has her hands full as awards season ramps up as well. According to her IMDb profile, she’s produced and directed promotional content for series like Glee, Scream Queens, Gracepoint, The Mindy Project, New Girl, Raising Hope, and The Following.
