At last! Dave Franco couldn’t stay silent for long following his secret wedding to Alison Brie. The actor, 31, spoke out for the first time about his low-key nuptials while promoting his new movie at CinemaCon on Thursday, March 30.
According to Franco, it was indeed the couple’s goal to ensure that the wedding was “low-profile” and hush-hush. So far, nothing from the ceremony has leaked—except that it happened. Brie’s rep confirmed the news to The Knot on March 13.
“It was great,” Franco confirmed to Entertainment Tonight this week. “It was really special… It was intimate, and it was really fun.”
Franco also explained the whereabouts of his missing wedding band to E! News on Thursday.
“It was too small,” he confessed. “My finger’s fatter than I thought… We’re getting it redone. Don’t act like its not going to come. It’s coming eventually.”
The newlywed’s Lego Ninjago co-star Justin Theroux praised Franco and Brie earlier this week for having a secret ceremony, much like Theroux’s private nuptials to Jennifer Aniston nearly two years ago. “I just found out about that, I didn’t know that that had happened,” Theroux told ET of Franco and Brie’s newlywed status. “Congrats to him, good for him for making it private.”
Franco and Brie, 34, first met at a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans back in 2011. They dated for three years before he proposed in August 2015. “I’m not very bridal, instinctually,” the Mad Men actress said in a subsequent interview with Yahoo! in February 2015. “I just met that person that I was like, ‘Well, I’m really in love with you and would like to grow old with you.’”
In his most recent interview, Franco told E! of marriage: “It’s great. Only positive things to say.”
