Retired soccer superstar David Beckham, one half of one of the world’s most glamorous couples, is now venturing into grooming products, and he has his wife to thank for his well-maintained routine.
In a new interview with Into the Gloss, Beckham revealed how he taps into Victoria Beckham’s at-home collection of high-end serums, hair products and more to help supplement his fresh-faced routine.
“My approach to grooming was always to steal my wife’s products,” he explained. “That was kind of it, really. I’d always been aware of how I wanted my hair to look, stuff like that, but I was also in a career where I was always outside—whether I was living in Manchester, living in Madrid, LA…all these different places with different weather. I had to take care of my skin because of that, but the way I looked after it was to steal my wife’s stuff, because I know she has the best.”
The former athlete also touched on applying masks—for himself, a recent first time application of Tom Ford’s clay product. “I really like it. I very rarely have the time to do a mask, but Victoria loves to do it before she’s going to bed, or when she wakes up,” he added. “Making the time to go for a nice facial is important—it doesn’t just make you look better, it makes you feel great as well.”
Victoria also previously noted her nighttime routine to the same outlet. “I’ve got a really nice, big, stone bath in my bathroom. I’m really comfortable in it, but I never have to the time to be honest with you,” she said. “If I can get in bed at a reasonable time, once all the children are in bed, and I’ve put a face mask on and I’m reading my Kindle, that’s a luxury for me.”
The couple married in July 1999 and will celebrate 20 years of marriage next summer. They now share four kids, Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 13, and Harper, 7.
“To have been married for the amount of time that we have, it’s always hard work,” David previously Australia’s The Sunday Project. “It becomes a little bit more complicated.”
