A Waverly wedding is underway! Actor David Henrie and former Miss Delaware Maria Cahill are officially husband and wife, his rep confirms to The Knot.
The couple exchanged vows on Friday, April 21, opting for a traditional church ceremony in Wilmington, California. “I knew Maria was special from the moment I saw her,” Henrie, 27, tells The Knot. “Now, almost three years later, it’s almost surreal that we’re finally getting married. We’re so blessed to be surrounded by our family and friends to celebrate this special day and I can’t wait to start this next adventure with my best friend and soulmate.”

Henrie–who rose to fame on Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place alongside Selena Gomez and Jake T. Austin—first met Cahill at an event. The actor instantly fell for the schoolteacher, who was living on the opposite coast at the time. Distance, however, was hardly a factor, and Cahill eventually moved to California to be with her love.
On October 7, 2016, Henrie flew Cahill out to the remote California island of San Juan Capistrano, where he asked her to be his wife. Joining the pair on the private destination—reachable by helicopter—was her side of the family. Somehow, the couple managed to keep their engagement under wraps until January 2017, when Henrie took to Instagram to share the news.

“I’m officially engaged to my best friend,” the How I Met Your Mother actor announced at the time. “I always debated keeping my personal life private or public, but you guys have meant so much to me over the years, I just have to share my JOY 🙂 #marriage is beautiful. I can not wait.”
In total, the pair spent seven months planning their wedding; The bride says she she up an account on The Knot as soon as they got engaged. “We wanted to get married as soon as possible,” Cahill tells us. “So to pick the perfect day and the church and reception to go along with it was key.”
