Wedding planning just took an interesting turn on reality TV. Celebrity wedding planner David Tutera is set to give eight deserving couples the wedding gift of a lifetime this coming January with My Great Big Live Wedding with David Tutera.

On the eight-part event series, Tutera will work with a different couple each week to provide them with the wedding of their dreams. Along the way, the seasoned wedding planning veteran will help to share their emotional backstories, very much along the vein of Extreme Home Makeover. Each week’s episode will culminate in a live wedding broadcast from different cities and towns across the country.

“[I] am honored to be a part of these remarkable and courageous couples’ special day,” Tutera says in a statement. “For me, it’s about this opportunity to make wedding dreams come true.”

The show, which is a collaboration between Lifetime and Thinkfactory Media, will offer up a new twist on the reality wedding genre that will get at the important core of weddings in a very real way: the union of two people, in love, overcoming life’s most difficult challenges.

“We set out to turn the wedding genre on its head by doing something that audiences have never seen before,” Adam Reed, President of Thinkfactory Media, says. “Inviting all of America to a new wedding each week to witness the most deserving engaged couples in the country be celebrated by David Tutera’s unique creative vision live! It will be an emotional and unrehearsed journey unlike any other.”

Additionally, the producers of the show have searched high and low to make sure they are serving those couples who have had difficult paths to the altar, with Tutera at the helm to guide them through the stressful wedding process.

The planner, who’s worked on weddings for celebs like Mark Ballas and Shannen Doherty, married his love, Joey Toth, in Hollywood in April 2017. “Our happiness is not valued in success or materialistic items,” Tutera told The Knot at the time. “But [our love is built upon] our time together, communication and respect… In L.A., that’s near impossible to find.”
