Who knew Derek Hough was such a poet? The Dancing With the Stars pro took to Instagram on Sunday, November 27, to share a note with newlyweds Mark Ballas and BC Jean after Hough served as best man in the couple’s wedding this weekend.
The six-time Mirror Ball champ, 31, posted a photo of the bride and groom embracing in front of their antique carousel accompanied by a beautiful message.
“Such an honor to be the best man at my brothers wedding,” the dance pro wrote. “Witnessing their love be sealed under a beautiful Oak tree in front of family friends was such a special moment. Like the tree May you Stand together tall and proud. May you always Go out on a limb for one another. To Stay grounded and dig your roots in deep so that you may weather any storm. And always continue to grow, stronger and higher reaching towards the heavens. And to always enjoy the view. Love you two.”
At the ages of 13 and 10, Derek and his younger sister, Julianne Hough, moved in with Ballas’ parents–family friends Shirley and Corky Ballas–to train at the famed Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. The siblings and Ballas faced an incredibly challenging schedule that required them to get up at the crack of dawn for training before school each morning.
“I remember one of my first days there I got off at the wrong train station,” Julianne, 28, told People in a September 2016 interview. “I was just standing there thinking, ‘Where am I?’”
The hard work paid off, with all three pals landing high-profile gigs on ABC’s beloved dance competition series Dancing With the Stars.
Ballas, 30, was the first in the trio to get married. He wed singer-songwriter BC Jean, 29, this past Friday, November 25, in Southern California. Other DWTS pros to attend the ranch nuptials in Malibu included Sharna Burgess, Cheryl Burke and recently-engaged pros Sasha Farber and Emma Slater.
