Though several sources report that former New York Yankee Derek Jeter is engaged to his supermodel girlfriend Hannah Davis, Jeter responded to questions of the engagement rumors with “no comment” at a luncheon on Wednesday.
Jeter, 41, and Davis, 25, have have been dating since 2012 but their private relationship was only brought to the public in May when they walked the red carpet together at the Met Gala. Their romance has been the subject of speculation for some time, but garnered new reports of a proposal by Jeter within the last few days.
According to the Daily News, it was at an hour long Q & A luncheon for the Long Island Association held at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury on Wednesday, October 28, that Jeter responded to questions regarding his engagement.
“In my career, I’ve always felt as though your private life is private,” Jeter said at the event.
“I don’t talk about it because I think some things you have to keep close to yourself. Some things are sacred. So, I’ve never addressed anything in my private life.”
At the end of the Q & A, the President and CEO of the Long Island Association Kevin Law got the crowd laughing by asking, “All that notwithstanding, is it true?”
“No comment,” Jeter replied.
The ex-Yankee shortstop and Hall of Famer ended his 20-year career in baseball in September of last year, while Davis was featured on the cover of the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue this past February.
