She’ll get adventure in the great wide somewhere! Disney unveiled its first official teaser of Emma Watson singing in Disney’s highly-anticipated, live-action version of Beauty and the Beast.
The 30-second spot, artistically edited to accompany the lyrics of “Belle”— arguably the most iconic song from the original animated flick—aired Sunday, January 8, during the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards.
The video begins with Watson singing: “I want adventure in the great wide somewhere.” She enters Beast’s castle, a place where this sought-after adventure certainly awaits the leading lady. During her stay in the cold, dilapidated corridors of the estate, Belle meets Beast (Dan Stevens), as well as Prince Adam’s servants who are also affected by the curse: Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson), Chip (Nathan Mack), Cogsworth (Sir Ian McKellen), and Lumiere (Ewan McGregor).
The clip itself shows some of the harrowing moments of Belle’s journey—from her frightening first encounter with Beast, to the tender transition of friendship and love she eventually forms with the misunderstood character. “I want so much more than they’ve got planned,” she trails in the final few seconds of the teaser.
